I have been a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) since November 2000. I have been a member of the Registered Massage Therapist's Association of Ontario (RMTAO) since November 2000. I graduated from The Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (CCMH) in June of 2000.
Since I graduated and registered, I have worked in a chair massage business in mall setting, in Spartan Nutrition as their onsite RMT, at Western University in their Student Sports facility, and at Westmount Chiropractic Office with Frank Hildebrandt, DC, at Vitalis Health and Fitness with our seniors in community and in Long Term Care Facilities, and my home office. I very much enjoy collaborating with other health care professionals in order to best relieve my patients' pain.
As an RMT, we are required to take Continuing Education Units (CEUs) on an ongoing basis, in order to keep our license current. Since graduating, I have taken courses in and actively incorporate the following modalities: Indie Head massage, TMJ (jaw) massage, Kinesio Taping, Positional Release, Myofascial Release - Structural Integration, and Trigger Point Therapy. In the future, I would like to learn about and incorporate Trager Therapy, Feldenkrais - Awareness Through Movement, and Vodder's Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
I am in the process of becoming a FEEL (Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning). It is a longish process, and I hope to be a practitioner in June of 2018.
As I have previously stated, I am only interested in seeing you get back to doing the things you love doing as quickly and efficiently as possible. I am not interested in creating a series extended treatment plans where I expect you to to keep coming back week after week seemingly without end. I realise this could be bad for my pocket-book, but that's not really the point. Any form of therapy must put your needs first, and, in my opinion, your primary need is to return to your normal life as quickly as possible.
My first useful job was a Ski Instructor at Boler Mountain, formerly known as The London Ski Club - Ski School. I first learned to ski when I was about 8 and continued skiing until I went to university.
In the summers, my preferred season, I learned and then became an instructor for canoeing and sailing. My favourite summertime activity is canoeing and camping in interior waterways in Algonquin Park, French River, Saugeen River, and wherever I can get my canoe into the water.
Before getting a car, I was more likely to be seen on a bicycle to get from one end of London to the other, than any other form of transportation. I loved my mountain biking. Then I was injured in my ribs, thus preventing me from bending over. There ended my ability to ride my bike … but wait, there's more. I found out about recumbent biking, and have since purchased a Rans Rocket. It's a short wheel base recumbent, which flies nearly effortlessly. I can be found riding in and around the various park paths.
Between 1991 and 1997, I was a professional classical pianist, composer, and chamber musician. I got my BA in Music, in 1992, however, instead of going down the usual path of finding a job as music teacher, I stayed on at the Faculty of Music at the University of Western Ontario and co-founded a musical group called "The Blah New Music Ensemble" where we showcased our own new and experimental music. As an accompanist, I specialised in clarinet repetoire.
